Coastal Flood Insurance Information

If you own a home on the coast of North Carolina, or if you are planning to buy or build a new home, you are
probably aware of the risk of damage from hurricanes, tropical storms, and nor’easters. To protect homeowners
and mortgage lenders from financial loss caused by such damaging storms, the National Flood Insurance Program
(NFIP) makes flood insurance available in participating communities. This fact sheet provides answers to
